What can reflexology do for me?

Reflexology can:

  • Promote relaxation throughout the body
  • Increase circulation
  • Improve immune system
  • Decrease sinus congestion
  • Normalize the function of the glands
  • Relieve pain
  • Decrease allergy symptoms
  • Integrate mind, body and spirit
  • Help to detoxify and cleanse toxins and impurities from the body
  • Improve sleep
  • Relieve digestive disorders

How is reflexology done?

During your session, you will be lying on a massage table with your feet propped up on pillows, covered in a warm blanket. Soft music will be playing, and I may use aromatic oils during the session, either diffused in the air or on your feet. In addition to using my thumbs and fingers, I may also use heated and/or cooled stones on your feet. I will rub a small amount of lotion onto your feet and will proceed to work over all surfaces of your foot, releiving trouble spots and sore areas.

Afterwards, you will feel very relaxed and refreshed as you slowly return to the real world.

How long does it take?

A normal session is approximately one hour.

Do I have to take any clothing off?

There is no need to take off any clothing but your socks and shoes.

How does it feel?

Reflexology is a wonderful, relaxing experience. During the course of the session, I may find tender spots that indicate that more work is needed in that area. Like a massage, the pressure should feel strong but not painful. If you feel tenderness during the session, please let me know so that I can ensure that it recieves the appropriate amount of treatment.

What should I expect after my session?

Immediately after your session, you may notice that your feet feel lighter, or that you feel like you are "walking on air". This is completely normal, and will fade as your body adjusts to the healthy changes that have taken place in your feet.

After a reflexology session, it is also completely normal for some internal cleansing to take place in your body. Please make sure to drink plenty of water for the rest of the day, to help your body flush out toxins.

How often should I come in for a treatment?

For maintaning good health, I recommend treaments 1-2 times per month (every 2-4 weeks).

If you have a serious injury or health condition, I recommend treatments done once every week. Occasionally, shorter and more frequent treatments may be appropriate.

One your overall wellness has improved, sessions can be reduced to the maintenance schedule of once every 2-4 weeks.

I can also show you some simple reflexology excercises that you can do at home to help yourself between treatments.
