Reflexology is based on the knowledge that there are "reflexes" in the feet and hands that correspond through the nerves and energy centers to all areas of your body. It is a safe, non-invasive bodywork technique in which a combination of direct pressure and massage techniques are applied to the reflexes on the hands and feet, to relax all parts of the body and influence the way that the body functions and reacts to stress.

Reflexology is a gentle, relaxing therapy that brings all of the complex systems of your body back into balance. Only when your body is truly relaxed and in balance can the healing process start. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to all of the cells of your body, but it cannot flow freely through tense areas, nor can any of the other fluids in your body.

Although reflexology, in various forms, has been used by many cultures throughout the world for thousands of years, it is now again being recognized as a safe, natural method to bring about healing in the body. Brought into the mainstream by pioneers like William Fitzgerald and Eunice Ingham, many doctors, nurses, hospitals, and others in the field of health care are starting to recognize its potential and utilize its benefits for their patients and clients.

Reflexology can be beneficial for many specific conditions, as well as being a way to maintain balance in the body and good health.
